I find the media statement by Dr Pollard on the recent election of new North Malaita MP, Hon Vika Lusibaea quite amusing.
The irony of the learned lady's statement is that it is always the endeavor of government and women's rights advocacy groups to empower women folk and amongst the prime objectives is to see more women elected into Parliament. Now, Hon. Lusibaea has done it, why not just acknowledge and congratulate her?
I find Dr Pollard's statement insensitive to the decision shown by voters of the North Malaita constituency. I am therefore not surprised that supporters of the new MP elect have to make their view known that the election outcome is their choice and no one else's.
Mixed reaction to election of new lady MP?
