Is this appreciation ( 5%) too early to be done or is it drastically implemented? Either way doesn't help at all. Instead of buying a bag of rice at $126 / 10kg rice I am currently buying at $150. Am I supposed to receive my share of my appreciation through reduced goods price?
Farmers like me in the copra industry which has just revived since CEMA collapsed was just about to kick off the industry only to realise the big blow on the face by appreciation.
I will have to close down and surely to be followed suit by my customers who are sweating in the plantations. What now? Just wait for aid money?
