Solomon Times on Line

Dear Editor
The library photo you have used to accompany today's article on RAMSI depicting three heavily armed soldiers engaging with two small children is hardly the image potential visitors to the Solomons want to see. I doubt, also, it is the kind of image RAMSI would like to have illustrate its present day presence, given armed intervention first occurred some six years ago.
I raised questions about the suitability of the same photograph quite some time ago and subsequent illustrations of RAMSI's presence depicted the humanitarian side of the Mission's peace-keeping role and community involvements.
Your online newspaper is widely seen and read and it would be best to convey more accurate reflections of today's situation, rather than conveying the impression to an outsider that the Solomons is akin to Afghanistan.
Yours sincerely,
Frank Short
