Failure to notice and embrace traditional staple food-fish resource devastation and impact in the Pacific is outrageous because due understanding is essential to implement the degree of solutions required.
It is outrageous that acute poverty and malnutrition and associated disease and death in SI and probably elsewhere in the Pacific is increasing, unchecked.
GDP numbers being reported involves top of economy business separate to the bottom of the economy where people are in serious trouble.
The Honiara economy growth being reported does not address impact of fundamental collapse of barter trade and subsistence living caused by available fish resource devastation.
Why is nothing being said or done by politicians and governments about impact of fish resource devastation on Pacific island people? Australian government is aware of severe fish depletion, awareness evident by a A.$200 million plus buy back of fishing licenses and livelihoods.
