Dear Editor,
The news that Cites Animal Committee has stated the SI should export 10 dolphins per year compared to 100 per year is not the solution. A total ban must be in place as far as the environmental community is concerned. Earth Island Institute and its coalition will continue to work toward a complete ban on the dolphin trade worldwide.
10 dolphins exported is 10 too many, and will translate in more than 10 dolphins per year being captured and abused.
The capture methods are violent and no different than a human child being kidnapped from their family.
As we continue to educate the public worldwide on this insidious trade, markets will cease and the trade will ultimately end. The reduction it is hoped will now go from 10 to ZERO.
Sincerely,
Mark Berman
