Dear Editor,
May I call on responsible authorities to investigate allegations of human rights abuse, cyanide spillage, as well as the financial status of the ASG mining group highlighted in the local news media.
No individual, in their right frame of mind, would allow a company that ignores human rights principles, and neglects the safety of the people, in which whose environment they operate, to continue drilling and obtaining mineral resources from their land. Let alone the question on financial credibility of the same company.
The Goldridge Landowners' Council, and representatives of communities who live downstream to the Goldridge mining site, must do something about these serious allegations. Their inaction on the above issues may mean two things; that they are ignorant about these issues and do not know how to address them, or, that they neglect their responsibilities to ensure the safety and well-being of the people whom they represent.
