This is what (amoung several other theologies of the Unification Church) that is not uniting at all about this movement:
Virtually all Unification Church members consider Father Moon to be the new Messiah . The Unificationist view of the messiah is of a man (or ideally, a married couple) representing God as "True Parent(s)."
In 2002, the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification published a message which it says describes a conference at which all the historical founders of all other religions have recently, in heaven, proclaimed Moon's messiahship.
Many other Christians strongly reject such a proclamation, citing the Gospel of John (14:6) in which Jesus of Nazareth states with finality that "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." (King James Version). As much as we all want peace and unity under one God as the theme goes, we have to look at this Unification Church and its theologies and ideologies.
In many respects, the Unification Church's theology is similar to mainstream Christian theology, but it differs from traditional Christian teaching in the following beliefs:
* Jesus is not God Himself, but rather a man born without sin who grew to perfection, an incarnation of divinity, an embodiment of God's nature, a state to which all people were to have grown had there never been original sin.
* Jesus did not come to die, but to establish the Kingdom of Heaven on earth. Giving his life as a sacrifice for our sins on the cross was a secondary course made necessary by a lack of faith and support of those surrounding Jesus.
As sweet and wonderful it may sound to the ears (Unity under one God)The above mentioned differences alone i can guarantee you, are the ideas that will cause the divisions instead of unity between Unification Church followers and mainstream Christian Churches.
If you are a Christian who believes in Global Peace then by all means take part in the festivities to promote peace, at the end of the day, only you can decide on what what your faith is when it comes down to Christian ideologies.. PEACE!! and May God Bless Solomon Islands!
