Solomon Islands' only female FIFA badge referee, Jovita Qilamasala leaves this afternoon to officiate in the FIFA Under 17 Women' s World Cup in Auckland, New Zealand.This will be her second outing since her appointment as a FIFA Assistant Referee in 2007 and she is keen to take on the challenge. Last year she travelled to Portugal where she officiated in an international tournament there.
In her brief statement, she said she is excited to once again get a call up to officiate and vows to do her best.
"I will do my best to help raise the profile of refereeing in Solomon Islands - and also promote my country amongst my peers," she said.
Qilamasala and her Colleagues will undergo another fitness test prior to the competition which will determine whether they are fit to officiate at the World Cup tournament or not.
She passed her fitness test in Honiara prior to her departure and is looking forward to repeat the same feat in Auckland.
