Fiji Wins Miss South Pacific

Miss Fiji was crowned the new Miss South Pacific on Saturday night in Fiji's capital, Suva, bringing the week-long festivities to an end.

Fiji Wins Miss South Pacific Miss Fiji, Merewalesi Nailatikau, created history for her country, also the host country, by winning the prestigious crown. According to Fijilive, the new Miss South Pacific, 24, was crowned 'ahead of four other regional finalists who all picked a question from a hat and responded impromptu to help the five-member panel of judges to decide on a winner'. Miss South Pacific Pageant Underway in Fiji

This year's Miss South Pacific Pageant opened in Fiji over the weekend in the capital, Suva.

Miss South Pacific Pageant Underway in Fiji Twelve young ladies from around the region are vying for this year's crown representing American Samoa, Cook Islands, French Polynesia, Kiribati, Niue, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga and Tuvalu, along with the host country, Fiji, and including Miss Aotearoa Pacific. The Pageant opened on Saturday with the contestants being ferried to the venue by a canoe, according to Fiji Times Online. Niue Wins Miss South Pacific

Niue's representative to the 2008 Miss South Pacific pageant, Vanessa Marsh, was crowned the new Miss South Pacific on Saturday night in American Samoa.

Niue Wins Miss South Pacific 23 year-old Vanessa Marsh, who was also Miss Photogenic, is a Fisheries Officer in Niue and a former student of the University of the South Pacific. She takes over from last year's winner, Miss Tonga, Tessi Leila Toluta'u. Samoa's Gwendolyn Pona Tuaitanu was the first runner up, second runner up was Miss Cook Islands, Anne-Maire Herman, third runner up was Miss Fiji, Filomena Tuivanualevu and the fourth runner up title went to Miss American Samoa, Shanette Pualani Tilo.
