The Research officer in the Prime Minister's office, Christopher Waiwori, in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth, Women and Children are organising a Youth Parliament.

The concept of the 'Youth Parliament' has seen success in countries where it was implemented. The Research officer said the idea is good for the country.

"Other countries in the world have been engaging in holding youth parliaments and we think Solomon Islands youth should be given the opportunity to participate in such an initiative."

The research officer is therefore calling on interested Youths to attend a preliminary meeting to be held at the Ministry of Youth, Women and Children Conference Room on Wednesday 13th June 2007 at level 3, Anthony Saru Building.

He said the meeting will be the first and therefore the purpose is for interested people to brain storm and discuss the idea further.

"The outcome of the meeting will establish a working committee to coordinate arrangements and get feedbacks from interest groups, organizations and other sources to formulate this proposed Youth Parliament agenda."

He asked interested individuals to make all effort to attend this first important meeting.
