The Solomon Islands Ministry of Women, Youth and Children Affairs in collaboration with the Commonwealth Youth Programme Pacific Centre conducted a workshop in preparation for a series of upcoming Provincial Youth Mainstreaming Summits.

The training last week was for the Ministry and its partner's youth development officers. The partners include non government organizations, civil society, faith based and all development organizations.

The training provides guidance for all organizations, including those working in youth development, to bring about positive changes to the lives of young people both at provincial and national levels.

Youth mainstreaming initiative is aimed at promoting the concept that all organizations should include an aspect of youth development in their work and aligning it with the country's National Youth Policy framework and national development strategies.

The revised National Youth Policy was endorsed by Cabinet in mid 2010 and the Ministry is now preparing to conduct 10 Provincial Youth Summits on 'Youth Mainstreaming - Making a difference in Youth Policy Implementation.'
