Young Local Sports Reps in Noumea to Compete

The Tenakoga and Florence Young Christian School under 12 youth teams have left the country on Sunday to participate in the 3rd edition of the OFC Youth Festival in Noumea, New Caledonia.

Head of the team delegation, Samson Faisi prior to departure told Solomon Times that preparation for the tournament has been progressing well.

"We have been playing friendly matches against schools of soccer excellence clubs in Honiara as build up games."

Mr. Faisi added that he was satisfied with the team's preparation and "we are hoping to produce some better result during the tournament."

The young ambassadors will compete against the likes of New Zealand, Vanuatu, and Fiji, host New Caledonia, Papua New Guinea, and Kiribati.

The two primary school teams' representation of Solomon Islands in the tournament follows their win the two top teams in the SIFF youth festival competition recently organized in Honiara.
