Jenlyn Tegu Wini, the Solomon Islands' most accomplished athlete, has been designated as the official flag bearer for Team Solomon during the opening ceremony of the XVII Pacific Games 2023, at the National Stadium.
Since 2012, Ms. Wini has consistently held the honor of being the flag bearer for Solomon Islands in significant competitions, including the Olympics and Pacific Games. Expressing her gratitude for leading Team Solomon once again, she sees it as a special privilege to march in front of a home crowd of over 10,000 people.
Acknowledging the importance of unity, Ms. Wini, with the responsibility of carrying the national flag, emphasizes the need for mutual support throughout the two weeks of sporting events.
Having participated in four Pacific Games, Ms. Wini is particularly excited about the 2023 Pacific Games as it marks her first opportunity to represent the country on home soil.
The much-anticipated Opening Ceremony is set to take place tomorrow at the newly constructed National Stadium, located within the Sports City complex next to King George Sixth school.
