Western Premier Faces No-confidence Motion

The Western Province Premier, George Solingi Lilo, is to face a motion of confidence during the upcoming Provincial Assembly sitting which will start on Wednesday.

The clerk to the Assembly Eric Kikolo has confirmed that Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) for Ward Three Belshazzar Sasa last Monday filed the motion to the Speaker's office.

Sources close to the MPA say that he is confident that he has the numbers to topple the Lilo led government.

The Premiers office says that they would rather focus on the Province's 2012 budget to ensure service delivery continues.

Meanwhile, the Minister for Provincial Government and Institutional Strengthening David Tome has arrived in Gizo today accompanied by his permanent secretary and other ministry officials.

Mr Tome will open the first Western Province full Assembly meeting for this year tomorrow morning at 9am.
