The Wantok Stori film project has announced the team that will begin work with them in the Solomon Islands this week.

The Wantok Stori - Culture In Harmony with Nature Film Project is a collaboration and exchange project between Victoria in Australia and the Solomon Islands that aims to explore and celebrate the diversity of Pacific culture. This project involves community discussion, film making and training, celebration and education.

Five youths from Solomon Islands were chosen from dozens of creative and insightful contributors to the recent online discussions on the big issues facing Pacific Islanders.

These young people will join three One News staff and Victorian film makers/trainers to create the film for Festival of Pacific Arts over two weeks from April 16 to April 28.

Using a Facebook website, Wantok Stori has energised a discussion on the big issues facing Pacific Islanders living at home and overseas that will result in a film that will be screened at the Festival of Pacific Arts in July.

It will also be made available online for school and community groups to use in education activities. Ideas and issues relating to discussions about the Festival theme, Culture in Harmony with Nature, have been explored through poetry, song, pictures, stories and discussion.
