The volleyball federation is preparing for the upcoming South Pacific Games with high hopes for medals.

The President for the Solomon Islands Volleyball Federation, Morris Maitaki says that the men's indoor team awaits a tougher task with the likes of the Samoan and Fijian contingent. "With the technical assistance and training the teams is as capable as any SPG competitor" Mr. Maitaki said. "Such preparations resulted in the last tourney's beach volleyball final in the female category where we snatched a silver medal"

Maitaki says that talent is definitely there, what is needed is to maximize our talents with whatever resources that are available to us. "There is no use wishing we have additional recourses, compared to our South Pacific Islanders, we must make do with what we have"

The female beach volley ball team has high expectations to compete as gold contenders for this year's SPG. Mr Maitaki said that the men's beach volleyball is also within medal contention.
