Vanuatu has won the Asia Pacific beach soccer final defeating the Solomon Islands Bilikiki team in a nail biting finish.

Vanuatu's beach soccer team manager, Harry Attison, said the game was finally won four goals to three in a penalty shoot out.

"We have been in the finals with Solomon Islands Bilikiki for the last three years. We lost to Solomons many times and this was a big history for Vanuatu Beach soccer and Vanuatu football so for me as team manager I am proud of what my boys have done," Attison said.

"I give credit to all the players, they have done really well, they have played with their hearts."

Attison said a new selection process helped Vanuatu to victory.

"One thing Vanuatu football is working on is not choosing the same players all the time because in the past we choose the same player in futsal and in beach soccer, this year we got all new players."
