More than 35 Solomon Islands Government students studying at the University of the South Pacific, who are supposed to travel on the Air Niu Guinea / Solomon airlines flight, bound for Honiara today are currently stranded in Nadi.

A Solomon Airlines insider confirmed this to Solomon Times and stated that the reason as to why these students cannot board today's flight is still unknown. Solomon Airlines are still awaiting response from their agent in Nadi to provide further details.

The insider confirmed that the students arrived in Nadi Airport with confirmed tickets but were found with dismay when told they were not allowed to board the flight.

The source said that they are working on the matter and therefore cannot confirm whether these students who are studying at USP, Fiji, under the sponsorship of the Solomon Islands Government will be traveling today.

The source also said that the flight for December 2nd is already fully booked and there is no space to cater for stranded students.

"At this moment the students are still at the Nadi Airport eagerly waiting to know when they will return home," says the source.

The source said confirmation will be made known later, after they find out what had happened.
