Two More Bills Passed

Parliament yesterday passed two more Bills called the ‘Business Names Bill 2014' and the ‘Solomon Islands National University Amendment Bill 2014', both of which are now Acts of Parliament.

Reporting the ‘Business Names Bill 2014′s passage through Committee of the Whole House, Minister of Commerce, Elijah Doro Muala says the Bill has passed with amendments.

“Mr Speaker I wish to report that the Business Names Bill 2014 has passed through the Committee of the Whole House with amendments.”

Minister Doro Muala also moved that the Bill be red the third time and passed, upon which Deputy Speaker Job Dudley Tausinga puts the question for its passage.

“Sir I move that the Business Names Bill 2014 be now red the third time and do pass.”

“Honourable Members I will put the question. The question is that the Business Names Bill 2014 as amended be now red the third time and do pass. All those in favour please say I, all those against say No, I think the I’s have it, the I’s have it. The motion is therefore passed.”

The Solomon Islands National University Amendment Bill 2014 was also passed through Committee of the Whole House without amendments today.

Reporting the Bill’s passage through Committee of the Whole House, Minister for Education and Human Resource Development, Dick Ha’amori says the Bill has passed through the Committee without amendments.

“Mr Speaker I wish to report that the Solomon Islands National University Amendment Bill 2014 has passed through the Committee of the Whole House without amendments.”

The Minister also moved that the Bill be red the third time and passed, upon which the Deputy Speaker puts the question for its passage.

“I move that the Solomon Islands National University Bill 2014 be now red a third time and do pass.”
