Third Annual National Volleyball Championships Expected to be a Thriller

The volleyball national championship will be held next week beginning Thursday 9th to Monday 13th April at the Multi Purpose hall. The competition is in the open men and women categories. Defending champions of both categories, Arasina, will be out to prove that last year was not a fluke.

Training has intensified with the teams that have indicated that they will participate, namely Lauru, Margweecout, Rainbow and Talisango. This competition is the only time that all affiliates will be taking part. It will be a time where our provincial, Honiara and senior national players will be displaying their talent and skills. Reliable sources have confirmed that the Lauru team is here serious to take the cup away from champions Arasina.

In the women's competition, the National team will be out to prove that they are ready for the World Championships. They will be treating the games as a warm up to their ongoing preparations, although many of those competing will want sweet revenge for not being selected in the squad.

Registration entry fee is $500.00 for both categories. Registration forms can be collected at the NOCSI office at Chinatown, Leong Building.

Men's Team: Talisango, Panatina (2), Lauru (2), Batika'a, Margweecourts (2), Rainbow, Zion, Arasina and Kongulae. We expected teams like Telecom, Kwaimags, Green Barrette, Auki and Central (Russell) to confirm their participation before 7th April 2009.
