Reports from Temotu Province say the people there responded very well to tsunami advisories issued after the earthquakes between Vanuatu and Santa Cruz.

Radio Temotu's Andrew Nalua confirms that people immediately evacuated their costal villages after authorities issued the advisories this morning.

He says that some people are still living on high grounds since they moved this morning.

He says up to five jolts were felt in Temotu Province.

Mr Nalua says there have been no reports of damages or casualties after the earthquake.

The tsunami advisories have since been cancelled on advice from geological experts.
