Member of Parliament for Temotu Pele, Martin Maga, is finally returning home after being hospitalised for four months at the Saint Vincent Hospital in Sydney.

The Solomon Star however reports that Mr Maga, who was Health and Medical Services Minister until June this year, is unlikely to regain normal functions.

The report says Mr Maga is suffering from a permanent stroke and is likely to be bed ridden for life.

The former health minister had undergone urgent operation after he fell ill on his way home from official government duties in Geneva, in May this year.

Mr Maga was replaced in June by M-P for Vatud Clay Forau Soalaoi following instructions from medical doctors at the hospital to the Prime Minister.

The Temotu Pele M-P is expected back in the country next Monday, after being cleared to fly.
