The kickoff of the third Telekom S-League season has been delayed until February 2013 following a decision by the Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF).

An actual date for the start of the third season of the league has yet to be decided but it is looking likely that it will be in the second week of February.

The competition was originally due to begin in October of this year but several issues prevented it from commencing on schedule.

The extended break will now be used by SIFF to ascertain the financial position of the S-League and reaffirm arrangements with the league's major sponsor, Our Telekom.

During this period, SIFF is also expected to review the participation of clubs in the S-League based on the financial viability of existing clubs.

The third season of the Telekom S-League will also see some changes in how the competition is managed with SIFF's executive committee set to appoint a board to oversee the operation of the competition, while the day-to-day running will remain under the federation's competitions department.

The registration fee for the Telekom S-League is being reviewed and clubs could expect to pay less to take part in the 2013 edition.

The second season of the Telekom S-League ended with the championship knockout which was held in September. Both the league series and the championship were won by the Solomon Warriors.

The Telekom S-League was established in 2011 as Solomon Islands' first national football league.
