Team Solomon left the country this morning headed to the Northern Marianas for the Pacific Mini Games 2022.

A total of 123 athletes and officials are part of the contingent that will represent the country at the 2 weeks sporting event.

Chef De Mission Fay Indu Ghemu prior to the team’s departure said that it is inspiring to see the high level of preparation athletes have undergone, especially with the assistance of the Solomon Islands National Institute of Sport (SINIS) High-Performance program.

“It’s encouraging to see how committed the athletes were towards their preparations for the games, especially with SINIS support in putting a lot of work assisting the participating national federations and athletes,” she commented.

"We will continue to encourage the athletes to perform to the best of their ability representing the country as good ambassadors!

As part of the High-Performance support – 6 sports were presented with complete nutrition plans and pre-competition checklists that include, sports-specific nutrition guidelines, health tips and an infographic on hydration and recovery.

CDM Ghemu also acknowledges the support of the Solomon Islands government, National Olympic Committee of Solomon Islands - NOCSI, Sol2023 XVII Pacific Games Committees - the National Hosting Authority (NHA), Games Organizing Committee (GOC) and the Solomon Islands National Institute of Sport - SINIS.

The Northern Marianas Pacific Mini Games 2022 are being held on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota from June 17th -25th, 2022.

The Northern Mariana Islands are an archipelago of 14 islands in the Western Pacific. The Northern Mariana Islands are a U.S. commonwealth and home to indigenous Chamorro and Carolinian people, as well as over 20 different ethnicities from around the world.
