Police are investigating the robbery of a Taiwanese fishing vessel that was anchored near Point Cruz late Tuesday night.

Police have been told that about five men armed with knives boarded the vessel, MV Quan Yong 168, and robbed the crew. The thieves stole a large amount of cash in United States currency, one satellite telephone, two suitcases full of clothes, three Outboard Motors, several cartons of cigarettes and Identification documents.
The Outboard motors are described as two 15HP and one 25HP all Yamaha brand.

Police say the details of the offenders and descriptions are sketchy. It is believed the men used a canoe to get to the boat and took the crew by surprise.

Police are asking members of the public, especially banks and hotels, to be on the lookout for anyone trying to exchange US Dollars for Solomon Island Dollars. The public is also asked to report anyone trying to sell outboard motors.
