A four-nation tour of the Pacific Islands will kick off for Taiwan Vice President, Annette Lu.

The trip will start with an overnight stop in the capital of the Marshall Islands, Majuro, the Radio New Zealand International reports.

It reports that Ms. Lu would be visiting four of the six Pacific nations that recognise Taiwan, three of which have had recent changes in their heads of government.

The visit is described as "a move by Taipei to cement relations with the newly elected leaders in these Pacific nations".

Ms. Lu is reportedly arriving Marshall Islands next Wednesday, later to also visit Nauru, Solomon Islands and Palau on the trip.
