The Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) has released the fourth tranche of the 2007 Constituency and Rural Development Projects fund.

The ambassador of the Republic of China, His Excellency George Chan, informed Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare in a meeting at the Prime Minister's Office that the monies, worth SBD$10-million, as well as funding for two other projects had been transacted to the Central Bank of Solomon Islands this morning.

The two other funding of SBD$5-million and SBD$367,500.00 would go towards the renovation of the National Referral Hospital's Operating theatre and a Solomon Islands Form Six and Seven Students Computer Laboratory and Water Tanks Project.

Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare, in response, thanked the government of the Republic of China for the prompt release of the funding for the three respective projects.

Mr Sogavare said the Solomon Islands government deeply appreciated Taiwan's ongoing unconditional support to Solomon Islands.

He said Solomon Islands would reciprocate Taiwan's goodwill by continuing to fight for its admission to the United Nations at international forums.
