H.E George Chan, Ambassador of ROC (Taiwan), has handed the last tranche of fund for National Plantation Development Project, worth of SBD$3 million to H.E. Dr. Derek Sikua, Prime Minister of the Solomon Islands on 20th October, 2008.

Ambassador Chan said that he is pleased to be invited by Hon. Job Dudley Tausinga, Minister of Forestry to witness the handover ceremony of the said project equipments on 21st October.

This signifies that the project is undergoing smoothly and is well-utilized. In the very near future, with the project financial aids from Taiwan, the mountains in Solomon Islands will be dispersed with lush tall green trees and regain its reputation of the wonderful God-blessing forestry.

Ambassador George Chan continued to mention that this project coincides with the rural advancement policy of the CNURA Government. He believed that the project will not only penetrate deeper into many rural areas around Solomon Islands, resulting in the alleviation of poverty for rural area people, but also boost the livelihood of those people. Ambassador Chan once again urged the S.I. Government to manage the fund properly.

In response, Prime Minister, Dr. Derek Sikua thanked the government of ROC (Taiwan) again for its firm support of this project. The SIG will be committed to making this project successful. He also agreed with Ambassador Chan that the project will improve the life of rural area people.
