Taiwan and Solomon Islands Diplomatic Relations Intact

The ousting of Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare will not affect diplomatic relations between Taiwan and Solomon Islands.

The Central News Agency quotes the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Acting spokeswoman in Taipei, Yeh Fei-pi, as stating that Taiwan has maintained close contacts with both the Solomon Islands' ruling and opposition parties.

Ms. Fei-pi said the bilateral relations are not expected to change, regardless of which party wins the Prime Ministership.

The Central News Agency reports Ms. Fei-pi as stating various bilateral cooperative programs will continue to be carried out without any hitch.
