Successful Inter-denomination Sports League

An inter-denomination sports league has been dubbed a success.

The Catholic Church had organised a sports league for youths of Malaita Province across all denominations.

Solomon Times was informed that the games started June 2007 and youths were invited to participate in soccer and volleyball competitions.

Churches involved included Seventh Day Adventist, South Seas Evangelical Church and Anglican.

The event successfully finished last month, January.

Fr. John Taba acknowledged the support from Bishop Chris Cardon, RAMSI and pastors of all churches involved for their presence during the league competition.

He also thanked the youths and clubs who had willingly participated in the games.

"We will organise similar games later this year," Fr. Taba said.

Meanwhile, newly ordained Fr. John Varea conducted his first Holy Mass last month for his people at Reko Community Local Church, Ruavatu Parish in East Guadalcanal.

More than 3000 people attended the celebration of his Holy Mass.
