The proposed strike by the Solomon Islands Public Employees Union (SIPEU) to go ahead midnight today is not likely to take place, as yet.

This follows Cabinet decision late Friday afternoon to refer SIPEU's log claims to the Trade Dispute Panel (TDP) for further deliberation.

Public officers have been called on to attend to normal duties at respective duty stations as negotiations continue between the two parties.

Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Public Service, Ishmael Avui, warned that public officers who fail to take on the advice will be dealt with under the Solomomn Islands public service rules.

SIPEU wants the government to address their demands such as the Cost of Living Adjustments, housing entitlements, allowances and awards, and border allowance.
