The official state funeral of the late Sir Lloyd Maepeza Gina will be held today.

The office of the Prime Minister says that the body of the late Sir Lloyd will lay in State from 9am until half past two in the afternoon.

The body will then be taken to Wesley United Church for the funeral service at 3pm.
Relatives have confirmed that the body will later be transported to his home village Munda, in the Western Province for burial.

The late Sir Lloyd was the longest serving Speaker of Parliament, a position he held from 1976 to 1988. Sir Lloyd was also a board member of various statutory bodies.
In recognition of his outstanding contribution to the government and people of Solomon Islands Sir Lloyd was honoured with the Knight Commander of the British Empire (KBE). He was knighted on the 1st of January 1990.
