The Late Sir David Kausimae has been accorded a state funeral today in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the country.

The Late Sir David Kausimae was amongst the first members of the legislative council, and later the legislative assembly, when the Solomon Islands was a British protectorate. Later, the Late Sir Kausimae became Chairman of various key government institutions.

The body of the Late Sir David is lying in state at Parliament House from 10 this morning. The Governor General, Prime Minister, Ministers and members of parliament and other senior government officials will view the body while it lies in state.

A funeral service will be held at the S-S-E Central Church in Honiara at three this afternoon.
