Solomon Islands defeated Team Vanuatu at the losers' final match today at Apia Park winning in straight sets in the team event.

TENNIS

In the Team Event's finals Samoa defeated New Caledonia to take first place.

Tennis ace Michael Leong defeated Vanuatu's Cyril Jacobe 6-2, 6-1 and Vanuatu's Jerome Rovo conceded defeat to Solomon Islands Johnson Taliki 4-6 and 4-6.

New Caledonia's Mens Team beat Solomon Islands in the semi finals after their doubles win at the Apia Park on Wednesday.

Solomon Islands Michael Leong defeated Nickolas Ngodrela in straight sets in the singles whilst, Johnson Taliki lost to New Caledonia's Gabriel Ledru in straight sets. In the doubles Michael Leong and Junior Kari lost in straight sets to New Caledonia's Julian Couly and Gabriel Ledru.

SAILING

In other news, the Solomon Islands Sailing Team Pancrasio Sikawaae came7th and Charles Baragamu in the 10th position in the laser category after 3 races at the AquaSamoa Watersports Center located at the Aggie Gray's Lagoon Beach Resort and Spa.

BASKETBALL

The Solomon Islands Basketball Team has conceded defeat to Samoa 91-48 in the first round last night at the Faleata Complex. Guam's big win over Cook Islands 105-29 puts them at the top of pool 1. In the Women's Basketball Competition Tahiti defeated Solomon Islands 93-48 yesterday in first round of the single pool round robin games.

WOMEN'S SOCCER

In Women's Soccer, Papua New Guinea tops pool 1 after beating Solomon Islands 4-0 on Tuesday 28th August, whilst Fiji takes second place followed by Cook Islands and American Samoa. Solomon Islands will take on Cook Islands later in the evening today.
