Spain Welcomes Solomon's to Participate at "Expo 2008" in Saragossa

The new Spanish Ambassador to Solomon Islands, His Excellency Antonio Cosano has welcomed Solomon Islands participation at the "Expo 2008" in the city of Saragossa from June to September.

Ambassador Cosano said the theme for this year's event is "Water and Sustainable Development" - a theme that lies as a priority environmental policy of the Spanish Government.

He said the Spanish Government is delighted to welcome the Solomon Islands delegation to the world event. "The event will provide a golden opportunity to exchange experiences about policies dealing with water management and by extension with other environmental issues," he said.

In this respect, Ambassador Cosano said Spain is very keen on the "Blue-Green" EU approach to strengthen cooperation with the pacific islands to further improve the sound management of natural resources, especially logging and land use.

The Spanish Diplomat has presented his credentials to Acting Governor General, Sir Peter Kenilorea last week.
