A Solomon Islands delegation from the Price Control Division were in Fiji last week for discussions on current and future cooperation with Fiji's Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The Cooperation will involve development of Solomon Island's consumer protection, competition, standards and measurement policies and laws.

The Solomon Islands delegation spent two days with the Commerce Commission to study Fiji's pricing template, inspection processes, and competition law.

The Solomon Islands delegation were impressed with the Fijian Competition Policy and are planning to use it as a model for drafting their policy and laws.

The delegation indicated that the Solomon Islands consumer laws need to broaden the focus in line with the Fijian laws to cover all aspects of consumer protection, competition and pricing.

The Solomon Islands delegation was led by Consultant Price Control, Douglas Alex, and included Director Consumers Affairs, Oliver Jino and Secretary to Price Control, Elijah Gui.
