Solomon Islands will hold its national census this year.

The Government Statistics office says the census programmes will be launched later this month.

SIBC news understands that a number of vacancies for jobs relating to the programme have been advertised.

UNICEF last year said that it will assist the Statistics office to run the census.

Solomon Islands held its last census in 1999, at which time the total population then was about half a million people.
