Solomons to Benefit from Global Climate Change Alliance

Solomon Islands will be one of the many countries that will benefit from the European Union's Global Climate Change Alliance this year.

The EU Charge' d Affairs in Solomon Islands, Abdoul Aziz-Mbaye in a media conference said that Solomon Islands will benefit from over seven-billion Euros that the union has committed to help its alliance countries that are and will continue to be affected by climate change.

Dr. Aziz-Mbaye also said that E-U is yet to announce the allocation for the country.

He said the Solomon Islands government has requested E-U's help of five million Euros to help with the relocation of people affected by climate change especially those living in atolls.

Dr Aziz-Mbaye said that the government must continue to commit itself towards reforming its public financial management units to cater for management of climate change help.

Meanwhile, he said climate change will be the major source of development help in the future.
