Solomons Police Head Resigns

Solomon Islands Commissioner of Police, Jahir Khan has resigned from his position in the force.

It's been reported that Mr. Khan's resignation follows "facing pressure from the Government".

Press Secretary to Prime Minister, George Atkin reportedly said that despite public media interview in the Solomons, Mr. Khan is yet to hand in his resignation.

Fiji Time Online quotes Mr. Atkin as saying the Prime Minister has been briefed by Mr. Khan, and "Cabinet is discussing further steps to take".

Mr. Khan as the head of National Security is expected to hand a resignation to the Prime Minister's Office.

The appointment of Mr. Khan came after the previous Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare declared former Commissioner, Australian Shane Castles persona non grata last year.
