The 81st birthday of Queen Elizabeth the Second has been marked with a national holiday today, along with the usual Queen's birthday parade at Lawson Tama stadium.

Members of the public will join both Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare and Governor General Sir Nathaniel Waena in the celebrations at Lawson Tama. The parade, which started 8am this morning, is expected to draw a large crowd.

Sir Nathaniel will present six previous honors and awards to recipients at today's parade at Lawson Tama.

The Governor General will announce the 2007 Queen's birthday honors and awards on Saturday morning.
