Solomon Islands first national representative in Aussie Rules football will travel to Australia next month to compete in the Australian Rules National Championships.

Eighteen year old Freddie Unu-Felix has been selected to represent Oceania in the competition and will play alongside representatives from across the South-Pacific.

Special coordinator for RAMSI, Graeme Wilson, has been working towards developing Aussie Rules in Solomon Islands since his appointment to the position early last year.

Mr Wilson has taken a special interest in Freddie and says he has high hopes for his future in Aussie Rules.

Mr Wilson says if Freddie impresses talent scouts also attending the championships he could be selected to play Aussie Rules for one of Australia's major clubs in the Australian Football League, AFL.
