Peter Forau of Solomon Islands is now the new Director General of the Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG) Secretariat.

Mr. Forau was appointed by the Leaders of the MSG at their Special Leaders Summit convened in Fiji earlier this month. He has recently arrived in Port Vila to take up his new appointment at the MSG headquarters.

He has extensive regional experience, having worked with the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands RAMSI as well as Deputy Secretary General of the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat for five years.

Before that, he also served as Permanent Secretary for three Ministries in Solomon Islands, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & External Trade.

Forau holds a Masters Degree in Development Assistance from the Australian National University and replaces Rima Ravusiro of Papua New Guinea whose contract expired in July this year.
