This year's Solomon Cup will be an Under-23 competition only, stated the Solomon Islands Football Federations media officer, Francis Pituvaka.

Pituvaka said that SIFF opted for an under 23 competition so that they could select a training squad for next year's under 23 tournament in Fiji.

Pituvaka went on to say that stringent measures will be taken to ensure that those that participate are within the age bracket. "Birth certificates of some sort or relevant documents must show that the current age status is under the required tournament age," said Pituvaka.

"The upcoming under-23 tournament in March next year is very strict with the age bracket, squad members over the age will be a risk for the team as the team could be disqualified."

Pituvaka has also been able to confirm that the upcoming Solomon Cup will see Honiara field a new look side since former members are now senior national reps. Runners up, Temotu, will also have a few adjustments in their lineup. Confirmation for participation by other provinces is yet to be verified.
