The Solomon Islands Solo Idol semifinals once again grabbed the attention of thousands of Honiara youths, who jam packed the Multipurpose Hall last night.

Also in attendance was the Deputy Prime Minister, Hon. Fred Fono and his wife.

Prior to the show, three contestants were eliminated from pursuing the semi finals. They were Joey Manemaka, Loretta Teho and Chrisapeth Haurabi.

The remaining senior category contestants were Wendy Nori, Becky Maetia, David Auna, George Hiri, Phily Carlos and Joey Phylis.

For the Junior Category, those who made it to the Semi Finals were Richy Saeni, Rachel Sarei and the two sisters Betsy Liutolo and Marion Liutolo.

Despite the poor ventilation and the heat, the crowd went wild with chanting, screaming and shouting as they witness their favourite singers on stage.

Crowd favourite, Becky Maetia sent many fans running to the stage with banners when she sang Celion Dion's 'I love you.'

The Solo Idol final has now been set for the seventh of September. The crowd will yet again wait with 'nail biting' anxiety as they witness three more eliminations from the senior category and one elimination from the junior category.

Once again, who to venture into the finals will be determined by public vote.

An appearance is likely from Fay Indu, Solo Idol's 2007 winner, who took everyone's breath away with her talent last year.
