Sogavare Willing to Meet Civil Society Group

While welcoming the planned protest by the Civil Society group, Sogavare has stated that he is also willing to have a private audience with the group.

Speaking to a packed press conference today, the Prime Minister stated that this is a democratic country and they welcome such moves. "These are decisions taken lawfully by the government, never yet have we erred in law when making these decisions," said Sogavare. "They have questions and we have answers to those questions."

Sogavare says that he only hears criticisms in the media but he has never had the opportunity to discuss these issues with the group. "I made this open invitation to the people concerned to discuss these issues with them."

The civil society group had earlier stated that they will plan a peaceful protest to the Prime Ministers office to present a petition against Moti's appointment.
