Top business graduates of the Solomon Islands National University will now have sponsorship support from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, SICCI.
Approval for the funding support granted by the SICCI management board was formalised yesterday in a meeting between Chamber CEO Jerry Tengemoana with SINU Vice Chancellor Dr Glynn Galo. It confirms funding support for SINU’s top male and female business graduates.
“The Chamber support to the SINU opens an exciting opportunity for today’s business leaders to foster the next generation of business leaders, and it continues a move from the Chamber to engage with Solomon Islands youth leaders in a range of sectors,” says Tengemoana.
He noted the major growth in membership for the Chamber, indicating more awareness and interest from those in business in national issues affecting the economy.
The Chamber already collaborates with the Secretariat of the Pacific Community, SPC on Youth at Work interns and Tengemoana is keen to pursue private sector partnerships that help address challenges for SICCI members.
SINU is now an affiliate member of the SICCI and other educational institutions including the University of the South Pacific (SI Campus) and the University of Papua New Guinea (SI Open Campus) may soon follow suit.
