The Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) Long Term Strategic Development Plan for the new cycle 2019-2022 has been passed during the 2020 Ordinary Congress held yesterday in Honiara at the Kwaimani building.
The strategic development plan was proposed by the SIFF executive under the leadership of President William Lai and was put forward to congress members for deliberation during the pre-congress on Monday and approval at the Ordinary Congress proper yesterday.
Vision statement for the 2019-2022 cycle is, ‘Advance our game, achieve our goals’.
Key goals in the strategic development plan 2019-2022 are infrastructure, good governance and administration, competitions, grassroots development, football capacity building, and national team performance.
Key targets set out in the development for the new cycle are to develop infrastructure, professionalize the administration of football at the national and regional level, professionalize the management of leagues, promote the growth of football participation with grassroots and youth programs, educate coaches, referees, administrators and professionalize the management of national teams through policies.
SIFF President, William Lai challenged all Provincial Football Associations and SIFF to do more to achieve goals set in the 2019-2022 Strategic Development Plan.
“You have learned more about our new strategic plan which I believe we all have a role to play to achieve our goals," Lai echoed this in his official remarks.
“It is paramount importance that all of us have to play your part to achieve what we have agreed as an Organisation.
“I am confident that we will do more in your capacity as presidents of your respective PFAs.”
SIFF Vice President, Marlon Houkarawa in his closing remarks highlighted the key messages around vision and mission statement of the long term development plan.
“When we go back, let’s go back with this new vision that says to advance football and to achieve our goals,” he said.
“So if we look at the statement it means we have to step up higher than how we used to do things in the past four years.
“Let’s do things differently so that we can easily achieve the results that we to achieve and so that we can achieve the goals we want to achieve as a football body.
“The mission statement clearly states that football development is achieved through members.
“All of us sitting here are all members and also other stakeholders like our sponsors or the government and provincial government members.
“We want to develop to achieve something; we want to be competitive both nationally and internationally.”
Other documents adopt by the congress are the SIFF Activity Report 2019, the Financial Statements and Audit Report 2019, 2021 SIFF Budget and Appointment of SIFF Ethics Committee members.
