The Solomon Islands Delegation headed by Deputy Prime Minister Manasseh Maelanga has arrived in New York on Saturday to participate in the UN General Assembly meeting which starts on Monday.

The delegation will attend other high-level meetings at the margins of UNGA, addressing key issues such peace and sustainable development, the millennium development goals, a meeting on disabilities, a meeting on sustainable energy to be followed by a reception hosted by US President Barack Obama.

Ambassador Collin Beck welcomed the delegation and highlighted some international and regional issues that Solomon Islands will be engaging in with partners during the UNGA.

Deputy Prime Minister Maelanga will address the UNGA general debate on Saturday 28.

The 8 member delegation comprised of Hon Maelanga (Head of Delegation), Hon. Sandakabatu, Hon. Laore, Hon.Taremae, Walter Diamana (MFAET), Kennedy Gwao (Protocol), George Kwaimani (PMO) and George Herming (PMO).

The SI delegation will leave New York on Monday next week.
