Seven Provincial Members from the Malaita Province yesterday resigned from duties.

Jimmy Manewai, the Provincial Assembly Member, who until yesterday was the former Sports Minister, reported that the reason for the resignation was confusion over the Malaitan Premier's leadership style.

Among many reasons was the lack of consultation with the Provincial Executive by the Premier.

"A very good example was the Malaita Second Appointed Day celebrations held last week. I mean anything to do with Malaita Province which involves the Provincial Government the Provincial Executive should have a say in it. The Executive did not have a say in what happened in the events marking the Province's Second Appointed Day last week," says Mr. Manewai.

The resignation letters were handed to the Provincial Speaker, Mr. Richard Watekari and were copied to the Malaita Premier, Richard Na'amo Irosaea.
