Senior officials from the Solomon Islands Government, the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands and the Pacific Islands Forum will meet this Thursday the 14th June in Honiara.

The SIG/RAMSI/Forum Enhanced Consultative Mechanism, endorsed by Forum Leaders at their meeting in Nadi last October.

"Since the first meeting of this Enhanced Consultation Mechanism in February, the relationship between Solomon Islands Government and RAMSI has continued to strengthen. Some of the issues that were causing some uneasiness in the partnership are now being addressed," Greg Urwin, Secretary General of the Forum said.

"A lot has happened since the first consultative meeting including the appointment of the Solomon Islands Government Special Envoy to RAMSI and Forum Permanent Representative to Solomon Islands. These two appointments are expected to improve the communication between the three parties about the role of RAMSI," Mr Urwin said.

The meeting, to be chaired by the Papua New Guinea High Commissioner to Solomon Islands, Mr Tamei Parai, representing the current Chair of the Forum, will be attended by senior officials from Samoa, the Cook Islands and Tonga representing the Pacific Islands Forum countries. Secretary to the Prime Minister and Cabinet, Dr John Roughan will lead the SIG delegation while Mr Tim George, RAMSI Special Coordinator will lead the Mission's delegation.
